Coventry Donkey Derby 2012 - 4th August

Coventry Donkey Derby

The 43rd annual Lions Donkey Derby and Charities Fair takes place at the Coventry Memorial Park today Saturday 4th August 2012.

Coventry’s answer to Royal Ascot; all the thrills of a day at the races where you can have a bet on the winner – without loosing your shirt, or merely watch and be thrilled by the spectacle of racing donkeys.  And it’s combined with a traditional village fete…but much, much bigger.  Indeed, it’s the biggest such event in the country….and it’s free – even the parking!

There’s good food, drinks. Plenty of entertainment for children aged from 3 to 93.

It starts at 12 noon with the first donkey race starting at 1pm.  You can even have a go yourself by racing against others on the trap (sulky) with a racing donkey.
Sulky Racing

It will be a bright, fun-filled, traditional family event -  with something for everyone.

We have the fun fair, play trailers, traditional Dixieland jazz group, dozens of stalls, Bouncy castles,  Punch and Judy and of course donkey rides and donkey races.

You can win two VW polo’s on the day with roll-the-dice and have a flutter on the donkey races.

Visit the many charity stands to have a bit of fun and do your bit to help those who help others.

You can also get refreshments from the many outlets on site – 100% of the ‘profits’ made on the Lions stalls goes to charity.

What better way to start the weekend than by attending the biggest event of its kind in the region.

Car parking is free …. and its free to get in.

Come on, you’ll enjoy it!
